Bridgeport grew up at a bend in the Cass River, and the first name for the place was Cass Bend. The 1906 State Street Bridge still crosses the water there. Cars stopped using it in the 1970s, and it was rebuilt as a footbridge in 2010. Buildings in this township have been standing a long time.

Bridgeport Charter Township counted 11,709 people in 2000 and 10,104 in 2020. Some of the housing that served the bigger population is still here. An empty house costs you in taxes and upkeep, and it gets worse every winter. Taking it down clears the lot and ends the bills.

Most of Bridgeport sits on the flat Saginaw lake plain. The soil is heavy clay and the water table is high, so basements and old foundations hold water. We break out the foundation and remove the concrete, then backfill the hole so the ground settles.
